What is Collada?

Collada is an open standard XML schema for exchanging digital assets among various graphics software applications.  This file format provides comprehensive encoding of visual scenes including shaders and physics, and even multiple versions of the same asset.  It also is a very hot topic within the video game industry as it offers quality file format the can somewhat be standardized.

Michael Lively demos his new Adobe AIR Collada-Papervision3D Viewer.  This AIR application compares Collada and Object files and make active changes and view those changes on the fly.  If you’re into using Collada files or interesting into learning more on Collada, this application is great on showing you how the beauty of XML and how it can take over a file format.  Check out and download this helpful application.
