Search engine’s visibility of Flash content has come along way. Just when many individuals were ready to give up on the Flash platform due to its lack of “visibility” in search engines. The day has come for Google’s vision of Flash content to appear much more clearer.
Jim Corbet, a member of the Flash Player team, spoke recently at this year’s Adobe Max conference. He spoke on the long awaited visibility of Flash content in popular search engines like Google. You can check out Jim’s presentation below as he goes into great detail on how this actually works and what it will mean for all of us.
Ted on Flex recently posted this video by Justin Everett-Church that demonstrates the new features that are coming in Flash Player 10. In this video, Justin breaks down portions of 3D, custom filters and effects, and the new text layout engine. You will also learn about the features that increase performance like Vector, the drawing API and visual performance enhancements.
Adobe has just announced that they are teaming up with search industry leaders, Google and Yahoo, to dramatically improve search results of dynamic Web content and rich Internet applications. This new search engine solution is essentially a special version of the Flash Player which enhances search engine indexing of the SWF file format.
What this means for the average Flash user and their clientele is that this new advancement will uncover information that is currently undiscoverable by search engines. This will also provide more relevant automatic search rankings of the millions of RIAs and other dynamic content that run in Adobe Flash Player. Fun times with Flash content and search engine optimization are finally right around the corner.
On2 Technologies, Inc., a leader in video compression solutions, announced today the introduction of significant improvements to the On2 VP6 video technology used in AdobeFlash 8 and 9 and Flash Lite 3.
The expected increase of quality in content encoded with On2 VP6 in some cases improved up to 40%. The new On2 VP6 technology is fully compatible with the existing decoder used in Flash player.
For those not familiar with On2′s VP6 compression scheme, it is one of the Internet’s most productive video codecs and it is used to encode all genres of video targeted for web delivery in Flash format. Chances are you’ve seen this video codec in action, but have you seen it in high-definition?
Notable Features:
Encoded video in this profile requires up to 30% less CPU power to playback
Focus on dramatic speed improvements in the VP6 encoder
Up to 40% of improved quality vs previous version
How do I get the On2 VP6 Upgrade?
On2 VP6 improvement release is planned for later this year. The improvements will be introduced as a free upgrade to the On2 Flix suite of encoding and publishing tools for Flash video. I am not sure exactly when Adobe Flash will have this new version incorporated within the Adobe Flash Video Encoder, however, On2 Flix has a suite of applications to fit various users.

Flash 10 “Astro” Demo
Flash Player 10 includes new features, enhancements and bug fixes, including:
Adobe recently announced a few but cool new features at FITC Toronto that will be available for Adobe Flash CS4 and Flash Player 10. These features are worth a look!
Flash CS4 Newest Features:
Motion Editor
The screenshot above almost explains the feature in itself. Basically, it’s a breakdown of every attribute of a Flash symbol that can be animated, so that you can fine tune a tween in way that was never possible before.
New 3D Tool
Flash and 3D will be one within the Flash IDE. When a symbol gets selected there’s a circle in the middle of the symbol, with 3 arrows representing the X, Y and Z axis. Select these arrows and move the angle of the arrows and it changes the axis of the symbol. This allows for quick and easy 3D tween.
Flash Player 10 Newest Features:
Save bitmap data locally from the Flash Player
Just a small feature, but important to those who use it, now developers won’t have to send bitmap data to the server to be processed and then sent back to be saved. In Flash Player 10, bitmap data can be saved locally. Above is an example of a image distorted with a Hydra script saved locally right from the Flash player.
Removing the 2880×2880 limitation!
For those of you that are aware of this limitation, it is now being removed. For those developers unaware of this limitation, bitmap data could not be bigger than 2880 pixels width or 2880 pixels height. This was to prevent the amount of RAM being used by the user’s machine at any given time.
SightSpeed Video Chat lets you connect with all your friends and family easily. Make video calls, phone calls, and send video mails and text messages to everyone in your network, anywhere in the world.
