  • Updated loading algorithms for faster tile loading
  • Flash / Flex versions
  • KML Support
  • Advanced content layering
  • FLA-Based Map Controls
  • Vector shape overlays
  • Extended Info Window styling

All in all, this new component can be very helpful for most users and most importantly it is free. If your interested in viewing a live demo, check it out at UMap’s Homepage.

This feature is fantastic. The potential of using actionscript interactivity with a virtual map is unlimited. However, I’m a little confused. It’s emphasized that this is GOOGLE maps, yet the example uses Microsoft Visual Earth.

Hey David, at the time of posting UMap heavily focused on Google maps. As of late, AFC has been focusing a lot on Microsoft Visual Earth and other maps APIs. UMap has become a beast of its own.
