Air App of the Week: FLVPlay

Using Adobe AIR to Save YouTube Videos onto Hard Drive

Here is a neat little AIR application that helps in easily saving your favorite YouTube video onto your hard drive. This AIR application is called FLVPlay. While it’s name is a bit off target, it is a nice tool that I would like to see evolve as YouTube releases it API to the public.

The FLVPlay is a non-commercial, conceptual AIR application, intended to simplify the video transfers from YouTube to computers and mobile devices like iPhone, iPod, smartphones. It provides the functionality to download videos onto PC, MAC or Linux and transfer them to the device later on, so the device’s bandwidth is not used later to stream videos. Other functionality is a video playback. It has been built with Adobe AIR and Papervision3D.
